Are site time widgets important?

I’m no web design guru. But I can tell efficient design to somewhat waste full. I’ll say that this opinion may come of personal reference. Yet, I would like to share this point to my dear readers. Certainly, websites usually put some kind of time telling apps, which enables readers to check whether their respective times. Honestly I find that somewhat, unnecessary. Here is why.

News/Updates: Tech Rant, Tumbling Agendas, and overhaul

March 6th, 2010 by Solidad

I have to break the ice. Its official that there won’t will be a tech rant release this week. I was sure that a while back that his ass won’t show up. But with  the twists of fate, he said that we can have the show tomorrow morning (Sunday). So, to sum it up. There will be a tech rant this week. Sorry for the confusion.

If you notice. I had started adding tumblr in my small army of blogs. I think that instead of setting up another wordpress, which requires a great deal of maintenance; since, I just want to have a simple platform for writing personal stuff. I decided that tumblr would be a good choice. Given that tumblr accepts personal domain; there isn’t any reason why i shouldn’t use this service. It is simple, intuitive, and down to the point. I may not have complete control over the site. But for people who simply want to write something, then this one fits the bill. I also setup a xagenda tumblr site, which is similar to this site. Those are for people in tumblr to see my work; sort of a advertising campaign. I also setup another tumblr site called, Inside Agenda (its on the right hand side, with a chili logo.) That is for personal opinions, and this is where RED hot issues will or may surface.

Unlike any other group or individual. I’m not in a habit of concealing names, or making issues appear like a tabloid ala “the WHO?!” style. So issues may spark, comments may flood, or fists may swung. But in the end of the day, you just needs the courage to say it. So, if you want to know what i think, just head on over to inside.xagenda.net and drop me comment or two. I like conversations, as long as they are sensible and down right intelligent.

Lastly. In celebration of my 2nd year blogging. It would be nice if i can change the theme of this lone site of mine. Despite of how efficient script wise this site is. It would be best to go for a change. So, by midnight next week, i’ll do some theme changes on the site. JP gave me a good theme, so i’ll use that in the upcoming change.

And that’s it for updates. Thank you for visiting my site. Kindly submit a tech question and i’ll personally answer them on tech rant and on my mailbag, which stopped because it ran out of questions.

IA: Weekend discussion: Tired, efficient, yet great

March 6th, 2010 by Solidad

Its that favorite part of the week. Its weekend again, and we are cramming quite a lot of activities for these 2 short days. Not to mention that my rest days are awfully short, specially this month. Anyway, I just want to write a personal note’s to myself and perhaps to who ever sees this small tumblr site. I just want to warn you, that I say things without any form of secrecy or malformation of any statement of any kind. I guarantee that I will offend certain individual, group or so called organizations of sort. But hey, free speech is free speech. The only thing you need is the balls to say it.

Co-host: JP, JD

Download (70MB/104min)

A long tech rant is a long rant. And we have a great show for you this week. JP’s bit cranky on this episode. Something that happens quite often, specially when you haven’t slept for 8 hours. We talk about politics, specially about Villar in-direct vote buying, to NoyNoys naiveness on the importance of the IT sector in the country. On a lighter note, we talk about PLDT broadband expansion, Smart PC on a box deal, and some other set of issues listed here on my delicious page. I also talk a bit about my Heavy Rain experience.

audio bandwidth is provided by archive.org and the intro is The lab with leo.

G-Pen M712X Review Part 1/2

March 4th, 2010 by Solidad

When i was busy trying to learn Photoshop. A tablet was my biggest must have device. Not only that It helps you eliminate the occurrence of Carpel Tunnel, but it also give you the capability to write or draw as normal; not something that uses a block of soap (mouse) or stone as its precision brush.

The golden egg when it comes to the ideal tablet device, are the Wacom products. They deliver the best performance, and was regarded by many artist. They have the simple line-up for semi-sophisticated people, to something professional; the career artist, and big time production studios. Price point was never the selling point for these type of devices. Prices start at 5600 for a  4″ x 6″ devices, and goes more as the realestate increases. I was partly devastated that i can’t simply get something that is the right size for my system. luckily some one did do something about it.

Genius, a Taiwanese company, which is norms for selling keyboard, mice and other computer accessories. Just started dipping itself in creating its own brand of tablet. What i got is the G-Pen M712X tablet; costing roughly a little more than its smaller cousin a 6″x10″ which cost around 4.6K. I was surprised that I got the bigger cousin; I’m expecting the smaller one, anyway I’ll try and see if i can get the actual value for the 712X model.

To start the review. Let’s get started with the aesthetic aspect of the unit. Something that is pretty important to people for some reason. I won’t give too much description about the physical appearance of the product. I’ll let you decide, based on the image after the break.
